“My love for the country and the Australian landscape began when I was twelve and my family moved ‘out of town’ to a small farm. Milking cows and fencing, to run-ins with snakes, the farm was a mix of work and adventure.
There’s always something to do, something to fix and I love the practical nature of farm life with the can do attitude that is borne from necessity. Watching my Grandpa weave a halter out of bailing twine is something I’ve never forgotten. Skills he learnt from a life on the land, where you learn that food doesn’t come from the supermarket and hard work is something to enjoy.
It’s been the years on the farm and a love for hiking in the bush that has inspired my artwork. Our landscape has a beauty and character all its own and I’ve enjoyed keeping my eye on it, watching for the next painting.”
