“A very subtle painting of great strength, which became evident with contemplation. This painting has the most wonderful lyrical and reflective qualities and a great sense of mood”

William Boyle, international judge, Fleurieu Peninsula Art Prize and CEO of Toronto’s arts and cultural Harbourfront Centre. November 2004

‘Grant’s paintings envelop the viewer in a soothing atmospheric calm. This is ambient realism at its best. In these canvasses there is no shift in sensibility from his earlier work though subject matter here is more distant. Landscape images like Field (Cobar) and Rising could just as easily evoke abstract sensations. Heartland works on a sensory level to achieve with the effect of paint something that is essentially wordless.’
